802.11ax Wi-Fi sixth generation or Wi-FI 6

In the same way that for mobile telephony, the IEEE starts to implement a generation naming for the Wi-Fi versions. There are so many letters in the specifications and so many different types of 802.11 versions that it is easy to get loss. So they make it easy for the us.

There are already commercial equipment for the new generation Wi-Fi 6. This new specification brings improvement in the bandwidth, but it is more focused in improving latency and very noise environment connections.

Wi-Fi 6 is defined in the specification 802.11ax. This new version of the standard 802.11 brings many improvements and changes over its predecessors, particularly 802.11 ac or Wi-Fi 5.

.

Among the most important things in the new specification we can find improvement in the latency and higher bandwidth in interfered spaces. Also will be possible to use multiuser connections. This will allow to have less problems in highly loaded networks.

All these improvements will also require improved networks elements, like cabling that can handle the new bandwidth, MIMO antennas (many of them, since each AP could use up to 8) and power injectors, like PoE injectors, that can work with all the current required.

This new standard will be also used outdoors where environment demands require not only APs prepared but also all the installation. Outdoor rated connectors, cables managing high temperatures and sun radiation, or waterproof enclosures that can keep the electronics correctly.
